Who we are

Kellstar is a specialised provider of training, consultancy, advisory services, and support for the SME sector, with individual businesses ranging from start-ups to companies generating up to $350 million in revenue.

Our team is led by Dean Kelly, a highly regarded and multi-award-winning entrepreneur. At the age of 23, Dean entered the IT recruitment industry and quickly rose to the top 0.1% of billing consultants. Within three years, he was headhunted to establish a new company for a group of investors, and within 12 months, he grew it to 42 staff members and a multi-million-pound turnover. Following a dispute over shares, Dean left to start his own business, pioneering innovative solutions that transformed the market. He expanded services overseas, establishing the fastest-growing company in the sector.

His new business scaled even faster than the previous one, becoming the UK’s fastest zero-to-exit agency when it was acquired by a UK PLC in 2005 for over $20 million in under three years. After a profit warning from the PLC, Dean took control, becoming the youngest CEO on the UK stock market at the time. He successfully turned the business around, repaid tens of millions in bank debt, delisted it from the stock market, and sold the group in 2015. Under Dean’s leadership, the business outperformed competitors in terms of growth and maintained the lowest employee attrition rates in the market.

With several successful exits across various sectors, a prosperous portfolio of companies, and a wealth of business experience, Dean decided to help other business leaders achieve their ambitions and goals.

Dean, a visionary entrepreneur and investor, dropped into the world of IT recruitment in 1998 at 23, swiftly emerging as an industry top contract biller within two years. At 25, a feature in the Evening Standard led to his recruitment by a group of serial investors, resulting in the establishment of a highly successful tech recruitment agency. Within 14 months, Dean had cultivated a profitable contract, permanent, and overseas division, boasting 43 staff members.

CFO

Daniel is an Ex-Top 4 accountant and stock market CFO, with over 20 years experience in recruitment, M&A, de-listings, and an IPO. Daniel has worked with Kellstar founder Dean Kelly since 2006 and his team works with over 30 recruitment agencies, for which he is a board advisor to over 15 agencies.

Outside of work, Dan is happily married with two children, he’s a dedicated Manchester United fan, enduring the pain of the last few years and he loves to get away and explore new parts of the world

Structures & Sales Director

Trevor is a recruitment veteran with over 25 years of industry experience. He has operated in every agency role from Consultant to Managing Director, successfully leading and owning agencies where he has scaled teams to over 50 consultants. For the last 5 years, Trevor has split his role as a recruitment director to leverage his passion for coaching, mentoring, and training under his J9 program. During this time he has worked with over 2000 recruiters and over 300 business leaders to help them scale, structure, and sell better. 

Trevor works with Kellstar invested agencies to ensure they have the right structure and sales skills to optimise performance and value.
